APPLIQUE

To purposely hustle the codes belonging to other self-adressed and auto-referential artistic fields, as well as to adress to an audience which hardly visits rock clubs, Velma brings to the theatres the Applique spectacle, a performance thought for this type of venue and audience, the music of Velma still dominating. In addition to the musicians themselves, two actresses and a film projectionnist are present on stage. In a physically painful posture, the actresses repeat the same simple operation, their increasing tiredness acting as dramaturgy. Freed from dialogue, narrative elements and acting, Applique creates an abstract universe and fully plays with the time aspect.
